Detroit Indian Women’s Association joins hands with Shanti World Music to present a rare musical experience to benefit abuse victims and survivors at LACASA Center.
The Harmony 2023 concert features an amazing line up of award-winning musicians from across the globe as they bring eclectic sights and sounds to the stage of the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts on May 20.
Headlining the event is the all-women Grammy nominated jazz group Straight Ahead Quartet, with sounds spanning comfortable mainstream jazz and R&B ballads, to avant-garde hip-hop and Brazilian funk. This dynamic foursome consists of Marion Hayden on bass, Alina Moor on piano, Gayelynn McKinney on drums, and Ingrid Racine on trumpet.
Straight Ahead will be performing collaboratively with world-renown musicians, including members of Shanti World Music fusion band Sunitha Ananthaswamy, Sean Blackman and Ammy Amorette. Ber-Henda Williams is the event host.
This high-energy concert also will include performances from celebrated choirs and world folk dance groups.
