POSITION OVERVIEW

The Child Abuse Services Supervisor is a professional human service position that coordinates the child abuse program while providing support, intervention and advocacy for children and youth impacted by child abuse.  This position requires demonstrable knowledge of child abuse, crisis intervention, communication, organization, supervision and community coordination.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Minimum requirement is a Master of Social Work degree or a related field.  Two years of experience with domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse preferred.  Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides psychosocial assessments and individual counseling for survivors of child abuse.
  • Provides group social work for survivors of child abuse.
  • Provides crisis counseling, intervention and referrals through crisis phone counseling.
  • Provides social work group counseling for families and significant others of survivors.
  • Provides transportation and accompaniment to court or other community meetings for survivors as needed.
  • Plans and implements interventions for children and their families.
  • Maintains case records on survivors of child abuse.
  • Oversees clinical documentation for the program.
  • Works with children’s, domestic violence, sexual assault and legal intervention staff regarding client activities and relationships.
  • Consults with parents, gathering information regarding their children in order to complete a thorough psychosocial assessment.
  • Provides children and their families with an orientation to the agency.
  • Provides age appropriate therapeutic, non-traditional and recreational activities for children and their families in the shelter and transitional housing during peer support and group meetings.
  • Makes appropriate referrals and advocates for individuals and families to other agencies when appropriate.
  • Reports any indication of child abuse and/or neglect to Protective Services or the police.
  • Completes clinical documentation and case records on clients.
  • Supervises counselors, volunteers and interns working as child abuse counselors and/or advocates.
  • Networks and collaborates with the community regarding issues of child abuse.
  • Facilitates overall development, implementation and coordination of program to ensure “Best Practices”.
  • Works collaboratively with counselors and advocates regarding client activities and relationships.
  • Participates in recruiting and candidate selection process as necessary to maintain adequate staffing levels and intern rotation.
  • Tracks, analyzes and reports pertinent metric information as needed by agency.
  • Participates in and prepares for various audits as requested.
  • Behaves in a manner consistent with LACASA Philosophies, Standards of Conduct and LACASA Staff Handbook.
  • Attends and participates in all meetings as required.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
