Highlights & Happenings
Relax at Petals: Our café and free refreshment station returns for our 25th anniversary. Located at the tour’s midway point, guests are encouraged to bask in the scenery, enjoy refreshments, socialize, and browse our Blooming Raffle offerings. Leon Garden #4.
Take Part in the Scavenger Hunt: Pick up an entry form at any garden and keep your eyes peeled for beautiful works of art from acclaimed wildlife artist and illustrator Michael Glenn Monroe. One of his live edge wood paintings is hidden in each garden. Find them all, submit your form, and you’ll be automatically entered into a prize drawing.
Bonus: these one-of-a-kind pieces are for sale, with all proceeds benefitting LACASA. See the volunteers at each garden for more information on purchasing.
Blossom Award: In honor of LACASA’s 25th Anniversary Garden Tour, please join us in congratulating Hazel Bostic as the recipient of the Blossom Award.
A master gardener from Howell, Hazel has been at the heart of Garden Tour for more than two decades. In addition to offering her own stunning yard as a stop, Hazel has been an active volunteer, helping to select our annual garden list, pouring over all the details, and playing a key role in growing this event.
When she’s not tending to her beloved plants, Hazel is spending time with her husband of 54 years and the large family tree that’s blossomed under their care, including three children and five grandchildren. But Hazel doesn’t play favorites with people or flowers; she loves them all, with the exception of daylilies. Her advice to other gardeners is to have hope as patience, and to remember, “You’re never done with your garden.”
We thank Hazel for all the seeds of love she has planted, and the harvest of devotion she has brought to LACASA!
Blooming Raffle: A wide variety of raffle baskets have been curated by our Garden Tour committee members. Explore the display and select which basket(s) you would like to try to win! Leon Garden #4.
Artistic Praise: Many thanks to artist Laura Sedoryk, aka Cleo, for her hand-painted commemorative slates, which are presented as thank you gifts to tour homeowners. Her design features the tour’s flower-of-the-year, which is the Red Trillium.
Cleo is a self-taught artist who works in her home studio with a variety of mediums, including watercolor, pastels, acrylics and much more. She has been recognized for her art many times, including a Best of Show and first place award at the Colors of Life exhibit at the Howell Opera House in 2023.
