Help Us Keep Penny’s Legacy Alive!

Support LACASA by joining The Penny Project – a special way to highlight the special love, healing, and bond only animals can provide. This unique project commemorates Penny, LACASA’s first Canine Advocate, and the vital services that she provided to the children we serve. For a small donation, we’ll include your pet’s name in Penny’s portrait, painted by local artist Susan Pominville, showcasing the profound impact of animals on the human healing journey.

Penny
Our First Canine Advocate, Penny, helped LACASA grow into the agency we are today.

Penny passed away in October 2024, but during her decade of service she helped hundreds of children and adults with her calming presence during forensic interviews, witness testimony, and in our Crisis Shelter.

Your donation to The Penny Project helps us secure our Home for Good, a state-of-the-art facility serving survivors of interpersonal violence. It also allows you opportunity to honor a pet that has made a difference in your life.

The completed portrait will forever hang in our Home for Good. Select the “large” name option and you will also be eligible to purchase a print in the size of your choice:

  • Small (9x12in.): $15 each
  • Large (12x16in.): $32 each
Both prints will include a white mat and an acid-free clear sleeve.

To purchase a print, please contact our Development Department by emailing development@lacasacenter.org or by calling (517)-548-1350.
